This dynamic panel discussion will explore how mentorship fosters creativity, collaboration, and resilience, with special attention to its impact in Rust Belt cities. The discussion will be guided by Dr. Paula Burleigh, an accomplished art historian and curator specializing in postwar to contemporary art. Dr. Burleigh serves as Assistant Professor of Art History, Co-Director, and affiliated faculty with the Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Program at Allegheny College. Our panel features an inspiring lineup of Erie-based trailblazers: Antonio Howard: Artist and Community Leader Benton Bainbridge: Owner and Artist at FEED Media Art Kyra Taylor: Executive Director and Co-Founder of Erie’s Black Wall Street Jude Shingle: Deputy Director at Erie Center for Arts & Technology Dr. Tyler Titus: Founder and Board Chair of Compton’s Table Lourdes Jasso: Program Director at Inner-City Neighborhood Art House These leaders will share their insights on how mentorship shapes artistic growth and sustains creative communities. They’ll address challenges and opportunities for artists in regions steeped in industry, heritage, and ongoing transformation.
